Thank you so much for picking up “One Story.”
Each song in this album
was written from moments and feelings
in my life that I hold dear.
I hope you can feel a part of my story
through these tunes,
and that you’ll cherish them
as they blend with your own story.
With gratitude,
Koyo Morita
1. Koyo’s Breakdown
Written when I first started
my own musical project.
It’s a song filled with the country guitar playing
I’ve always admired,
a piece I can’t leave out in any live show.
For this album,
I’ve added a new arrangement.
2. Runnin’ Man
When you need an energy boost,
when you feel like you’ve been slacking a little,
or when you’re about to be late.
That’s when you should remember
the title of this song
and hit play. Every time.
3. Dust and Coffee
This song was born from a time
when all my work disappeared
during the pandemic.
I remember making coffee
in a dusty, quiet room,
wondering what I should do next.
4. Pickin’ or Drinkin’
A song for a sunny day off.
When you can’t decide
whether to play guitar
or start drinking in the afternoon.
5. YOKAZE
On a night
when my father’s illness had become serious,
I couldn’t go back home,
no matter how much I wanted to.
To calm my heart,
I played guitar in a small park nearby.
Thinking of my hometown, Amami Oshima,
a melody came to me
and this song was born from that moment.
6. Journey
When I look at life from a distance,
I’m reminded of how precious time truly is,
something we often forget
in the rush of everyday life.
Embracing both joy and uncertainty,
this song traces that ongoing journey
through sound.
7. The Way Home
A familiar road I walked during a visit back home.
I wrote this song
remembering those evenings of my childhood,
the path I used to take after playing until sunset.
8. Little Hand
A song inspired by the birth of my daughter.
While watching her tiny hands
and playing the guitar,
a gentle melody came to me,
and I shaped it into this song.
9. 33
Written on my 33rd birthday.
A song about the balance of the heart,
caught between the impatience
of wanting to reach my ideals
and the voice
reminding me that there’s no shortcut.
Even while swaying between the two,
it’s about taking one step forward at a time.
10. Sunny Steps
On a sunny day,
when your heart feels light for no reason.
This bright, uplifting song
celebrates those small moments of happiness.
As the closing track of the album One Story,
it symbolizes
the first step toward what comes next.
